I wanted to share with you this new company committed to the design of fashionable and functional apparel for the natural hair community. They are a fairly new company so I wanted to let people in the lock and natural hair communities know there’s a brand for them!
When you get the opportunity check out the website (http://www.dreadsock.com) and feel free to pass this information along to any people you think may be interested. Be sure to check out the videos on the journey page, they’re really cool.
Peace, love, and Nappyness

howzit JOM!
You rock! AWESOME BLOG!
Do not hang your head in shame…i paved the way for natural hair before anyone thought natural was possible. so when i saw i had many followers who rediscovered their natuaral hair i had to leave the movement i began after all now it had fancy products like this one to sustain it so a pioneer must move on…. so i’ve moved on but definitely still holding on to JOM hair products.
once you use JOM Hair Products you can’t go back! you can’t use anything else!
God bless and keep keeping it real!
love
Siki
Hi
For the hair care home recipes, can i just use the olive oil i cook with in the kitchen? or is there a special one for external use?
Hi
Thank you so much for the feedback, truly appreciated.
Bear with me, i have a lot of questions (partly cause im excited about going natural but also i want to do this the right way!) I havent relaxed my hair for 6weeks now, is it an ok time to cut it or should i wait a bit longer? I have no qualms with short hair, i know it suits me well because i had it about 3yrs back but I want to get an idea if i’ll have a bit of natural hair to start off with when I cut off all my relaxed hair. I dont want a brush cut, i would like a bit of hair to take care of.
Also, I went to Clicks in Brightwater Commons to check out JOM hair products – and they dont have a lot of stock. I found the hair softener package but couldnt find a mosturiser. Do you know of a Clicks I can go to that has it?
Im interested in natural oils (used for body and hair) Where can I find them (e.g grapeseed oil etc) and things like shea butter. I have done some research and apparently they are very good for natural hair.
Thank u Frochic for my lovely prize…I love being natural. Stay natural.
Thank u so much Frochic for my lovely goodies. Stay natural.
Hi ladies,
I have recently discovered your blog and what perfect timing as I am transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair. I absolutely love your blog!!
I would like to find out where I can get beautiful thick braids at a reasonable price in Jozi. I used to go to TnI when I was still a student in Cape Town and now I cannot seem to find a salon that uses the same “hot-water” hair piece that they used there – all I am seeing is the shiny, plastic looking “hot water” hair piece which does not look very good when your hair is in a half relaxed half natural state.
Please help
guys thanks for you tips.I have natural hair too but I was not sure what to do to maintain it
I saw a setting device called “curl formers” on Youtube. Do you know if we have this product in South Africa. Would love to purchase and use instead of normal hair rollers.
Please let me know.
I like this blog I am a napturalist. What products are you using for twist out?
Hi Ladies this is just a suggestion on your contact us page, how about you make the address bold and underline it. so that it attracts the naked eye. One other thing dont you need someone to maintain the site? Dont you also want a LOGO?
Hi Guys
I am new on this natural hair hype..i am so excited ,can somebody please explain to me how to keep my hair straight for @ least 3 days as i can only have it straight after a blow dry and 2 days after it goes back.
is it safe to dye my natural hair..i like it pitch black
this site is really God send, i’ve been struggling to maintain my natural hair, i dont really know what to use for it. on the american sites they keep telling you about the importance of keeping your hair moisturised and about shea butter. i managed to get hold of pantene leave in conditioner, but shea butter is a real problem. but my problem is, i really dont know what products to use for my hair that is available locally. please help.
hi
how can i style my hair like Lira’s.
Hi Ladies,
I’m in desperate need of your help,i’ve been natural for almost 3 years now,it just wont grow, and the worst problem is that my hairline was damaged by weaves, i have a receeding hairline, its so bad that i just keep hair in cornrows most of the time.I’ve tried the following products to grow back my hairline:
Virgin hairfertilizer
MPL oil
Organic Hair Fertilizer
Dont know what to do anymore,PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
Hi Chicas
What are you thoughts about Yes to Carrots products?
Hie guys, been natural since January oh boy my is kinky.I stay in Randburg can’t find shear butter or jom products anywhere I tried 4ways as well nothing.- have the 4a/4b type of hair that’s if that’s the kinkiest texture.Fro chick ladies where do you buy yo shear butter?
Hi Ladies,i need help please my hair has never been soft unless if i relax it.but now my scalp is irritated because of the different relaxers ive been trying. Can someone please recommend something i can use to maintain healthy hair.Thank you
Hi, my desparation has lead me to this site. I had dreadlocks from 2002 to 2010 and one day just felt my head was heavy hence the cutting. So my hair has been natural since April 2010 and its in cornrows 90% of the time. I have a personal stylist that does my cornrows@ home, however I need a salon that understands natural hair around Pretoria or the East Rand in Gauteng. I have that rich thick hair and most stylist would like to see it relaxed or blow-dried. Also what products do you recommend that would keep it soft and managable?
Hi ladies, just when I resigned myself to finding a natural hair blog for women living in SA, I find you! I went natural earlier this year and since then have struggled to find sites or online vloggers and bloggers who can give advice and product reviews based on being here in SA. Don’t get me wrong, the international girls are great and have been a big help but I got so tired of hearing them swear by Giovanni or Suave products, stuff that I haven’t even seen here! So, cheers for catering to us African ladies. I look forward to catching up on your posts.
I found you guys on black girl with long hair. I must say Im so happy to see African chicas embracing their true very beautiful nature. I’m 3 months post BC and Im loving my kinks! living in Asia means having to struggle with my hair, especially product wise so Im glad you make recommendations of products I can easily ask someone back home in Botswana to send over for me!
Hey,Frochic!
Thanx ladies for paving the way in terms of hair blogging in SA.
As mentioned by Aisha -19/10/2011- American sites plug American products. Nothing WRONG with that but sourcing and pricing does not make this a sustainable option for South African Naturalites.
But Frochic has certainly made ME see that the sky is the limit if only one is prepared to take a risk. Good on YOU!! I am inspired by you all and hoped to be a contributing writer and/ profiled on this site!
God bless and love you FROCHIC!!
Hey guys, you should consider having a picture gallery for easy picture references of all the hair do’s
hi,
i’m looking to buy curl-formers. where can i get some?
Hi fellow natural Sista’s
Please help,I have beeen growing my hair naturally for about 2 yrs and now iv decided to give it a break now from my weave,BUT the problem is that I just don’t know how to style my afro,so if u have any ideas please help a sista out.
Thanks
Hi Ladies,
I’m sooo happy I found this website. Bathong I need help hleng. I’ve been growing my natural hair for a year, after transitioning from relaxed. I however don’t know what to do to moisturise it and most importantly to keep it soft. I have what most of us call “skuurpot” hair, it’s sooo kinky, so coily and hard to comb after every wash. It’s almost always in braids, weaves or cornrows, because I can’t just leave it as it is, for reasons mentioned above. Ke kopa thuso please…..what products to use during washing, conditioning and everyday moisturising.
Thanx in advance
